Staff Research Associate role at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). The Prahl Lab is seeking a highly motivated Staff Research Associate to work as part of a research collaboration investigating the immune response to vaccination including SARS-CoV-2 in early childhood/pregnancy cohort. Job Details

Department: Pediatrics, Infectious Diseases & Global Health Division (UCSF). Location: San Francisco, CA (Mission Bay), on-site. Employment type: Part Time. Salary: The salary range for this position is $28.12 - $33.57 per hour. Final salary and offer components are subject to UC policy; placement within the salary range depends on work experience and internal equity. For union-represented positions, placement within the range will be guided by the collective bargaining agreement. Benefits information available at the UCSF compensation and benefits page. Responsibilities

Perform cellular immunology assays, primarily flow cytometry (Cytek Aurora spectral flow cytometer, FACS ARIA cell sorter, LSRII cytometers) or ELISpot. Develop and validate new flow panels and assays. Data management and analysis of high-parameter flow data using appropriate software. Collaborate within a research team and communicate results clearly; assist in planning and interpreting experiments; train others as needed. Qualifications

SRA I:

BA/BS in a related science or equivalent combination of education and experience; knowledge of basic techniques or methods required by the position. Experience performing sterile tissue culture and cellular/immunology/molecular techniques. Outstanding written, verbal, and organizational skills with meticulous record-keeping. Ability to handle sensitive clinical information and work with human specimens. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with a team and independently, meet deadlines, communicate issues, and train others. Ability to perform calculations related to preparing media and solutions, planning and interpreting experiments. Willingness to learn new skills; familiarity with cell culture procedures and advanced laboratory techniques (e.g., Elispot, flow cytometry) is desirable. Ability to work independently under general supervision as well as within a team; good judgment in decision-making; ability to train staff with varying backgrounds. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload effectively. Experience processing cord and/or infant blood is preferred. SRA II:

BA/BS in a related science with one or more years of directly related experience using the required techniques; or equivalent experience/training. Experience in immunology, including flow cytometry/mass cytometry. Experience with sterile tissue culture, preferably with human samples. Familiarity with FlowJo, Stata, Excel, R, and other laboratory software. Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends as required by experimental protocols. Experience processing cord and/or infant blood is preferred. Department and Organization
