We are seeking an Armed Public Safety Officer to help keep our community safe. We support Emory Healthcare's mantra of "We're all in this together." Patrols facilities and property to detect unauthorized persons, activities, unsafe conditions, and ensure life safety standards are maintained. Maintain appropriate communication with Supervisors, fellow Officers, Security Operations Center and Law Enforcement to report crimes, incidents, and safety-related irregularities. Intervene in disputes using verbal de-escalation techniques to diffuse potentially violent situations. Investigate and document incidents through both written and electronic format as required: safety hazards, incidents and criminal activities to Public Safety Leadership; control access to restricted properties and verify admittance of authorized individuals. Escort people or property to desired destinations when safety is a concern. Assist with parking and security during special events and provide visitors with directions and security information. Perform security services and dispatcher duties when assigned. Participate in activities not directly related to Security operations as approved by Security Management. May include transport and release of bodies from the morgue; patient escort; elevator recall checks; monthly fire extinguisher, panic alarm, and intercom checks; and special event setups. Interview and investigate individuals involved in suspicious or illegal activities. Detain unauthorized individuals in compliance with state and federal law. Officers are required to use force when appropriate to protect patients, staff and visitors at an Emory Healthcare facility. Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) consecutive years of armed security, military, or law enforcement experience within the last 7 years. Must have possession of one of the following:

POST certification; OR Military DD214 or current Military ID

All active, reserve, retired or honorably discharged military personnel will meet the licensing/certification requirement Federal, state, or local licensing firearms certification (e.g., Department of Homeland Security, NASA, NRA, GBI, or Secretary of State) AND Must successfully complete the Basic Security Officer and Firearms course mandated by the Secretary of State within 3 months post-hire. Must be able to successfully complete training to carry non-lethal weapons such as a Taser (CED) and/or a baton within 3 months post-hire. Must possess a valid driver’s license. While a clean driving record is not required, applicants should have no recent history of serious traffic violations. Must pass a psychological exam. Must obtain IAHSS Basic certification within 12 months. Obtain a BLS Certification within 12 months. Complete FEMA IS 100, 200, 700 & 800 within six (6) months. Additional Details
