Position Summary
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full‑time, Lecturer II (non‑tenure track) position with a start date of August 10, 2026. Candidates must hold a master’s degree in mathematics or a closely related field and possess at least three years of college‑level teaching experience by the appointment start date. The Lecturer will teach a 4/4 schedule (four courses per semester) or a 3/3 schedule if the opportunity arises to coordinate courses.
Responsibilities
Teach a full 4/4 or 3/3 course load, including coordination of courses as needed.
Communicate and collaborate with department faculty and staff.
Contribute to the department’s mission of advancing mathematical sciences and mathematics education in New Mexico.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in mathematics or a related discipline by the appointment date.
At least three years of experience as a college‑level instructor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Experience teaching a variety of lower‑division courses.
Literacy in modern student‑centered pedagogical methods and innovations.
Awareness of challenges faced by students in lower‑division mathematics.
Collaboration and communication skills.
A demonstrated commitment to cultivating an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the university’s mission of serving local and global communities.
