Correctional Industries Supervisor Assistant- Rover Location: Coyote Ridge Correction Center, Connell, WA. This is a non-permanent, full-time Correctional Industries Supervisor Assistant position with standard hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position supports that objective by providing assistance in the supervision and training of incarcerated workers in the CI manufacturing and transportation operations located at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center. Responsibilities
Duties may include, but are not limited to: Provide staff coverage for all Correctional Industries shops located at CRCC (excluding Food Service). Work within all shops at CRCC-CI and collaborate with shop supervisors to assist in shop production and manufacturing. Provide coverage where two or more staff are needed at all times and assist during training, sick leave, annual leave, or vacancies. Move raw material from the warehouse to shop locations and move finished products to the warehouse as needed; move laundry to and from MSU Camp using facility/CI owned vehicles and equipment. Allow staff to remain in their work areas where two or more staff are needed at all times. Assist in supervision and training of incarcerated workers
under the direction of the shop supervisor/lead: Observe and supervise incarcerated workers operating and maintaining equipment/machinery in areas including laundry, textiles, mattress, commissary, and warehouse/transportation operations (food service excluded). Document all training as required. Document and provide feedback on incarcerated workers’ job performance and behavior using appropriate records and in accordance with DOC policy. Safety and compliance: Ensure incarcerated workers receive safety training and adhere to safe work practices through the Safety and Accident Prevention Program in accordance with DOC policies. Maintain proper recordkeeping for the DOC Safety Program. Investigate accident reports. Participate in and/or conduct monthly safety committee/meetings. Safe and secure operations: Maintain security and discipline over incarcerated workers in accordance with DOC policy. Account for incarcerated workers per DOC policy, including informal counts and call-out reconciliation. Execute and maintain tool control processes according to DOC policy. Maintain key control. Administrative duties: Maintain accurate timekeeping. Prepare incarcerated worker personnel actions. Participate in/conduct inventory control and counts. Required Qualifications
Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license. High School Diploma or Equivalent. Regular and predictable attendance. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. Possess or ability to obtain a forklift certification within 3 months of hire. Effective oral and written communication skills. Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products or equivalent software programs. Ability to develop and promote positive and professional interpersonal relationships. Preferred Qualifications
1 year production/manufacturing experience in garment/textiles, mattress, laundry, warehouse. Experience with ERP software. Experience in teaching and training. Experience working within a correctional facility. Special Requirements
Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Complete a felony disclosure form prior to employment and submit to a criminal background check. Complete required orientation and mandatory annual trainings within mandated timeframes. Provide physical residential address and home telephone number to the Department of Corrections. Familiarize and comply with all DOC policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable. Submit to drug testing in accordance with CBA and agency policy. Must currently possess or obtain within 14 days of hire a valid Food Handler Certification and maintain active throughout employment. The position is included in a union shop.
