Reporting directly to the CEO, the Managing Director provides executive leadership and operational oversight for NHF’s regional recuperative care sites (Pico, Glendale, Ventura, and Arleta), as well as future expansion sites identified by the CEO. The Managing Director is responsible for the supervision and management of daily oversight of all recuperative care locations as well as the development of the Senior Directors and Directors of Recuperative Care. This role requires a forward-thinking, strategic leader who can align big-picture vision with operational excellence, ensuring that NHF continues to deliver high-quality recuperative care services while meeting organizational growth and compliance goals. Responsibilities and Initiatives

Operations Establishes, implements, and communicates the strategic direction of the organization’s operations division. Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while contributing expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems within the values of NHF. Collaborates with other departments to carry out the organization’s goals and objectives. Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials at recuperative care facilities. Ensures that operational decisions and project plans such as staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are aligned with the organization’s business plan, vision, and mission. Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures across all recuperative care facilities. Reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects. Establishes and administers the department’s budget in collaboration with the CEO. Supervise compliance with grant Audits as needed. Presents periodic performance reports and metrics to the CEO and other leadership. Understanding of harm reduction and trauma-informed care principles. Emergency response procedures and protocols. Coordination with healthcare providers, case managers, and discharge planners; attend case conferences and respond to guest grievances and hospital partners as needed. Identifies and evaluates new vendors to reduce operational costs while maintaining service quality; monitors performance of current vendors and makes changes to ensure cost-effectiveness and standards. Ensures consistent quality of services and operations across all four recuperative care locations through site visits, performance assessments, and standardization of best practices. Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health considerations. Ability to visit multiple sites and work in various facility conditions. Availability for on-call responsibilities or emergency situations. Reviews and approves invoices and purchase orders within SAP Concur to ensure accuracy and budget adherence. Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management and homeless services. Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed and implemented. Acts as back-up for all sites in the event of absence of any site leaders. Performs other related duties as assigned. Always follow NHF policies and procedures. Supervisory

Interview and train management-level staff (Senior Directors, Directors, and Managers) at all Recuperative Care sites. Oversees the daily workflow of the department, developing, implementing, and training staff in changes. Holds others accountable for work errors, performance, and behavioral challenges. Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations for managers and directors; assist site leaders with periodic evaluations as needed. Assist in discipline and termination of employees in accordance with NHF policy and the People and Culture Department. Community Relations

Represent National Health Foundation at a community level by attending Neighborhood Council meetings and act as a voice for NHF and staff, addressing concerns as needed. Build, cultivate, and foster relationships with community stakeholders, inviting them into facilities (as approved by CEO) and educating them on NHF’s mission and vision. Compliance

Ensure NHF Recuperative Care policy and procedures align with the National Healthcare for the Homeless Council and the National Institute for Medical Respite Care. Develop and train facilities on processes to meet goals. Monitor contractual obligations with partners, ensuring goals are met; develop and train facilities on processes to meet these goals. Requirements

Required Master’s degree in Business Administration, Human Services, Healthcare Management, Public Administration, or related fields. At least 10 years of field-related experience in human services. Strong operations experience required. 5+ years in upper management required. Experience in homelessness services a plus. Ability to build and sustain strong cohesive teams is essential. Physical Requirements

The duties described require frequent standing and walking, with extended sitting. Involves bending, squatting, reaching above the shoulders, twisting, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Must communicate effectively; noise level varies by area; must hear alarms and direct verbal communication. Benefits
