Banquet Events Manager
to join our Catering Team.
This role is responsible for proactively soliciting and managing group/banquet and event related opportunities with significant revenue potential. The manager will actively up‑sell each business opportunity to maximize revenue, achieve personal and team related revenue goals, and ensure proper and timely service delivery. They will drive customer and guest loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer/guest experience and provide service to grow the account on behalf of the company.
Essential Functions
Book and coordinate a variety of events concentrating on weddings, anniversaries, baby showers, and other high‑end social banquet functions.
Target group/catering accounts, markets, or segments with heavy emphasis on proactive solicitation and account saturation.
Respond to incoming catering opportunities for the property.
Identify, qualify and solicit new catering business to achieve personal and each property's revenue goals.
Focus efforts on catering accounts with significant potential sales revenue.
Develop effective catering sales plans and actions.
Design, develop and sell creative catered events.
Maximize revenue by upselling packages and creative food and beverage.
Understand the overall market – competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand, etc., and know how to sell against them.
Use negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
Handle complex business with significant revenue potential and significant customer expectations.
Develop relationships within the community to strengthen and expand the customer base for catering sales opportunities.
Execute exemplary customer service to drive guest satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the guest and ensuring their satisfaction before and during the event.
Organize meeting room bookings.
Coordinate all event room needs, as well as sales/service support.
Conduct direct sales calls and blitzes while maintaining good working relationships with existing clients.
Include point of inquiry, quoting rates, contract development, detailing of needs, arranging of food and beverage, audio‑visual requirements, communication of client requirements to staff on the day of event, posting of charges, presentation of bill, and follow‑up.
Provide professional client services support in the planning, organization, and management of events within the facility, monitoring logistics after events are concluded.
Conduct walk‑in site tours & pre‑con meetings.
Compensation Salary: starting at $60K plus commission.
Our compensation package for full‑time associates includes a competitive salary, medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD, life, 401(k) with match, PTO after 90 days, dining and travel discounts, special offers from business partners, and discount programs for selected cell phone providers.
Qualifications
Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Detail oriented with strong problem‑solving skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Ability to discuss food and beverage with excellent knowledge.
Strong customer service orientation.
Self‑motivated and results oriented.
Minimum of 4 years catering sales management experience preferred.
Flexible schedule.
