Overview
Correctional Industries Supervisor Assistant - Rover. Non-permanent/full-time position located at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center in Connell, WA. Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Correctional Industries within the Department of Corrections (DOC) seeks a highly motivated individual to fill a non-permanent Correctional Industries Supervisor Assistant role. Provide staff coverage for all Correctional Industries shops located at CRCC (excluding Food Service). Collaborate with all shop supervisors to assist in shop production and manufacturing; work within all shops and support requirements where two or more staff are needed at all times. Provide staff coverage during training, sick or annual leave, or vacancies. Move raw materials from the warehouse to shop locations and move finished products to the warehouse as needed; transport laundry to and from MSU Camp using CI-owned vehicles and equipment. Assist in supervision and training of incarcerated workers under the direction of the shop supervisor/lead; observe workers operating and maintaining equipment in laundry, textiles, mattress, commissary, and warehouse/transportation operations (food service excluded). Document training and provide feedback on job performance and behavior; use required reports and forms in accordance with DOC policy. Ensure safety training and adherence to the Safety and Accident Prevention Program; maintain DOC Safety Program records and participate in safety committees/meetings. Maintain security and discipline per DOC policy; account for workers through informal counts and call-out reconciliation; execute and maintain tool and key control. Perform administrative duties including accurate timekeeping, personnel actions, and inventory control. Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Valid Washington State driver's license. High School Diploma or equivalent. Regular and predictable attendance. Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. Possess or obtain forklift certification within 3 months of hire. Effective oral and written communication skills. Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office or equivalent software. Ability to develop and maintain positive professional relationships. Preferred Qualifications
1 year production/manufacturing experience in garment/textiles, mattress, laundry, or warehouse. Experience with ERP software. Experience in teaching and training. Experience working within a correctional facility. Special Requirements
Maintain regular and reliable attendance. Complete felony disclosure and pass criminal background check. Complete orientation and mandatory annual training within required timeframes. Provide physical address and home telephone number to DOC. Comply with DOC policies and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable. Submit to drug testing per policy. Must currently possess or obtain within 14 days of hire a valid Food Handlers Certification and maintain it during employment. Position is in a union shop; must pass pre-employment urinalysis test.
