On-site, Manhattan University library (in person) Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Public Service, the Library Associate - Student Supervisor works in the Access Services Department of the O'Malley Library and is the primary contact for library student workers. In collaboration with the Director of Public Service, the Library Associate - Student Supervisor hires, trains, schedules, and supervises the student workers. They will assist in the development of training sessions and guides for all access services personnel. They will be integral in identifying collection maintenance projects and assigning tasks for student workers. They will assist library patrons at the main desk, answering and documenting questions, maintaining statistics, and working with others to ensure good relations with all patrons. They will be the main contact for course reserve materials, creating courses and adding materials using Worldshare Management Services (WMS), the library’s integrated platform. This position works closely with other library personnel to communicate and enforce policies in a courteous and helpful way. Primary Responsibilities Hire, train, schedule, and supervise student workers Collaborate with Human Resources, Financial Aid, and Payroll to streamline the hiring process Open the library Assist library patrons: answer questions, document inquiries and requests, refer patrons to librarians or to other units as necessary Check out, and in, library books and media Perform collection maintenance tasks: shelf reading, shifting, inventory, weeding, book displays Process and manage course reserves and physical reserve materials Effectively interpret and enforce access services policies and procedures Assist with maintenance of printers, photocopiers, scanners, and related technologies Maintain knowledge of current library policies, collections, services, and technologies Other duties and special projects as assigned Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED Minimum 1+ year experience Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and patrons/customers Good communication skills, including professional competence in writing Significant experience with general-purpose software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies with appropriate instruction and support Strongly Preferred
