About the Department of Conservation and Recreation : The Department of Conservation and Recreation manages one of the largest and most diverse state park systems in the nation and protects and enhances natural resources and outdoor recreational opportunities throughout Massachusetts. The DCR system includes over 450,000 acres of parks, forests, water supply protection lands, beaches, lakes, ponds, playgrounds, swimming pools, skating rinks, trails and parkways. The Department seeks qualified applicants for the position of Seasonal Recreation Facilities Supervisor II at the Melnea Cass Recreation Complex.
Duties
Supervise personnel in the operation and maintenance of recreation facilities such as swimming pools, playgrounds, sports courts/athletic fields and surrounding grounds/buildings. Monitor events and patrol the facility during events to prevent theft and vandalism and to enforce rules and regulations. Inspect buildings and equipment; perform routine maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities. Operate equipment such as lawn mowers, hand and power tools, pumps, generators and chlorinators. Ensure the proper upkeep and cleanliness of facilities, including cleaning of showers and restrooms, trash removal and grounds maintenance. Enforce safety rules and regulations; maintain routine records. Identify, investigate and correct heating, plumbing, electrical and structural problems in recreation facilities; meet with agency personnel to discuss problems and make repair recommendations. Based on assignment, incumbents may also schedule events; review and prepare reports; keep inventory records; monitor expenses by reviewing invoices and purchase orders; order and schedule distribution of supplies. Performs related work as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Entrance Requirements : Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in the maintenance and repair of recreational facilities or in recreational management, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions : I. A certificate, diploma or degree as evidence of satisfactory completion of at least a two-year program in building construction technology, electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology or mechanical power engineering may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience. * * Education toward such a program will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. Note: No substitutions will be permitted for more than one year of the required experience.
Special Requirements
I. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross II. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Standard First Aid and Personal Safety Certificate issued by the American Red Cross.
