LIFT STATION MECHANIC [FLSA: NON-EXEMPT; SHIFT: 7AM - 3:30PM, MON - FRI] at CITY OF OVIEDO Reports to: Collections Utilities Supervisor. Responsibilities

Performs preventative and corrective maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment and controls used at City lift stations. Maintains and repairs all gravity sewer lines and force mains; keeps records of work performed and measurements taken. Assists collections personnel in non-lift station maintenance or repairs as assigned. Monitors, maintains, repairs, replaces and installs lift station SCADA systems. Maintains instrumentation devices (pump control units, telemetry control units, flow meters, level control devices, gauges). Conducts diagnostic measurements and data gathering using voltmeters, ohm meters, temperature and pressure gauges, and digital calipers; calculates various flow-related values. Installs, troubleshoots and repairs piping, valves, pumps, motors, process equipment and electrical controls (up to 480 volts). Evaluates, prioritizes and repairs lift stations and other wastewater facilities; responds to emergency work orders for lift station alarms, sewer backups, and related issues for residential and commercial customers. Performs preventative maintenance on pumps, gate valves, check valves, plug valves and associated fixtures. Reviews, inspects and locates sewer lines; performs installation and maintenance of pumps, valves and appurtenances using crane truck. Operates or supervises Jet-Vac truck to clean and pump out wet wells, manholes, and gravity sewer lines. Prepares preventative maintenance records and reports; maintains and repairs Air Release Valves; reads lift station, alternative water, and sewer meters. Maintains alternative water pump stations and wells; maintains property around lift stations. Performs lift station emergency on-call duties on a rotating basis; serves as essential personnel during disasters and emergencies. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years of age. Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent with specialized courses/training equivalent to one year of college in mechanics, electrical systems, or related field. Two years of experience with mechanical repair including electrical pumps and related equipment. Experience with SCADA and telemetry control preferred. Must have a valid State of Florida driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record. Special Requirements: Obtain a Florida Class B Commercial Driver License with tanker endorsement within one year from date of hire; obtain a Florida Class C Collection Technician certification within eighteen months of hire. Must be able and willing to work on-call as needed. Skills and abilities: comprehensive knowledge of installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment; safety awareness with high-voltage systems; experience with centrifugal, submersible, reciprocating, and vertical wet well pumps and related controls; familiarity with SCADA and telemetry; basic knowledge of CCTV inspection equipment; ability to read sketches, maps and blueprints; ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical systems; ability to calculate pump capacity and efficiency; proficiency with mechanical tools, lifting equipment and rigging; strong interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure. Special Certifications

Florida Class B CDL with tanker endorsement within one year of hire. Florida Class C Collection Technician certification within eighteen months of hire. Other
