STAFF ENGINEER - AI/ML Location: Mountain View, CA - Hybrid office Egnyte is a secure multi-cloud platform for content security and governance that enables organizations to protect and collaborate on their most valuable content. This role focuses on driving innovation across AI initiatives, with emphasis on NLP solutions, and shaping technical strategy for Gen AI at Egnyte. Egnyte is scouting for an experienced Staff Engineer to drive innovation across AI initiatives, define technical strategy, oversee complex machine learning architectures, and ensure deployment of Gen AI solutions at scale. You will mentor a small engineering team and provide expertise in state-of-the-art AI/ML practices, ensuring a robust production pipeline and professional management of models. What you’ll do

Help lead the technical strategy and execution for AI projects across the organization. Design, deploy, and manage the lifecycle of AI/ML models, including retraining and monitoring for continuous improvement within our solution. Design and drive Gen AI features on large-scale datasets. Drive innovation in NLP and other ML solutions aligned with Egnyte’s business goals. Architect, develop, and oversee scalable, production-ready AI systems. Provide technical mentorship to the AI/ML engineering team, fostering growth and collaboration. Conduct in-depth research and stay current with Gen AI and deep learning advancements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, to evaluate requirements and determine optimal AI solutions. Review code, share best practices, and ensure delivery of high-quality solutions. Represent Egnyte’s technical excellence through publications, presentations, and participation in industry events. 8+ years of hands-on industry experience at a software or SaaS company leading projects (internships, co-ops, and research projects included in this count). Experience managing large-scale datasets and distributed computing environments, with a preference for Google Cloud Platform expertise. Java programming experience. Experience integrating and deploying AI/ML solutions into production at scale within a SaaS platform. Demonstrates independent thinking and the ability to analyze challenges, overcome technical hurdles, and deliver impactful AI solutions. Hands-on experience with Generative AI techniques, including RAG pipelines, LLM fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and diffusion models. Strong knowledge of generative AI frameworks and tools (e.g., Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI APIs). Experience developing and scaling Generative AI solutions for NLP, vision, or multimodal tasks. Advanced knowledge of modern AI frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow/Keras, Hugging Face Transformers, JAX/Flax). Expertise in Python, Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm. Excellent communication skills, particularly in mentoring, knowledge sharing, and cross-team collaboration. Willingness to be in office 3 days per week. Bonus skills

Proficiency in additional programming languages such as Scala or Go. Familiarity with tools and frameworks like Kubeflow and OpenCV. Proficiency in building and deploying Generative AI applications using state-of-the-art models and deep learning techniques. Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across multiple U.S. locations. The standard base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $190k - $250k annually. Pay varies by work location and may depend on job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
