System Architect

. This position is remotely based in the continental United States. Your Impact in the Role Lead the design and integration of system architecture into new and existing (brownfield) customer facilities, collaborating closely with the Field CTO and Product & Field Development (PFD) team to develop comprehensive scopes of work. Architect solutions that span on-premise and cloud environments, ensuring seamless interoperability between Siemens platforms (WinCC OA, Mendix, Industrial Edge) and customer systems (SAP, Ignition, AVEVA PI Historian, Kepware etc.). Evaluate and select appropriate integration patterns, protocols (MQTT, OPC UA, API, PubSub), to meet customer requirements for real-time and batch data flows. Specify and coordinate the deployment of standard Siemens products and components, ensuring secure, scalable, and compliant integration with customer IT/OT infrastructure. Validate system architectures against customer requirements, regulatory standards, and operational constraints, including security, authentication, and data protection. Document integration approaches, including architecture diagrams, data flows, communication protocols, and timing (real-time, batch), ensuring clarity for all stakeholders. Provide technical leadership and guidance on best practices for integrating Siemens solutions with customer environments, including cloud, on-premise, and hybrid deployments. Capture lessons learned and share feedback with cross-functional teams to continuously improve integration strategies and solution frameworks. Develop scopes of work consisting of developing the integration effort, necessary hardware and software required to Your Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, with a focus on automation, integration, or industrial software. 10+ years of experience in system architecture, systems engineering, or technical consulting within industrial or manufacturing environments. Proven expertise in integrating complex automation solutions, including: Siemens platforms (WinCC OA, Mendix, Industrial Edge) Industrial data integration using protocols like MQTT, OPC UA, Modbus, and APIs Designing secure, scalable integrations between legacy and modern systems Integration knowledge of enterprise integration (SSO, DNS, Certificates, etc.) Ensuring compliance with data protection, security, and regulatory requirements Strong understanding of cloud and on-premise architectures, including hybrid deployments and secure data flows. Ability to answer integration, security, hosting, and compliance questions for customer IT staff. Willingness to travel up to 25% (domestic/international). Must reside in the continental U.S. and be legally authorized to work without employer-sponsored authorization. Preferred Qualifications : Master's degree in related field Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for deploying and managing industrial infrastructure. Experience deploying systems in resource-constrained edge environments (e.g., Siemens IPCs, Raspberry Pi, Intell NUC) Hands-on experience with Enterprise

Kubernetes

platforms (e.g., RedHat OpenShift) or container orchestration and microservices deployment.

Experience or significant exposure to real-time or near-real-time workloads and message buses (e.g., Zenoh, DDS, NATS). The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
