Job Description
Human Resources Generalist – Budgeted salary range $75,000 to $90,000 per year, depending on experience. This role provides essential HR support across employee relations, benefits, payroll, leave administration, talent acquisition, onboarding, credentialing, and learning and development. Partners with leadership to ensure compliance with labor laws and foster an inclusive, mission‑driven work environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with employee relations & labor compliance: interpret and explain HR policies, serve as liaison, partner with senior leadership to resolve conflicts.
- Benefits & leave management: administer and terminate employee benefits plans, work with carriers, guide employees on leave programs, initiate work‑comp claims.
- Payroll co‑management: coordinate payroll processes in Paychex, audit payroll data with Payroll Specialist, reconcile payroll and benefits statements.
- HRIS super‑user: maintain employee master data in Paychex, generate dashboards, train staff on system use.
- Talent onboarding & offboarding: review and deliver new‑hire orientations, coordinate volunteer & internship programs, manage terminations and exit interviews.
- Credentialing & compliance: coordinate credentialing data for healthcare providers, track CME/CEU requirements and licensing obligations.
- Performance reviews: assist with annual performance review modeling, standardization, and processes.
- General HR support: manage transactional processes, continuous improvement initiatives, personnel file organization, audit HR documentation, generate reports, provide administrative support, open enrollment, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws (wage & hour regulations, FMLA, ADA, any union or collective bargaining agreements).
- Experience managing employee benefits, leaves, payroll, and compliance.
- Proficiency in Paychex (or similar HRIS/payroll system) – super‑user level.
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Commitment to supporting the Black community and promoting employee health and well‑being.
- Flexibility to work on an as‑needed basis and maintain professionalism.
- Valid driver’s license or state ID.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred with at least five years of full‑time HR experience;
• Associate’s degree plus successful completion of an HR Certificate Program with at least seven years of relevant experience;
• High School Diploma with at least ten years of recent full‑time HR experience.
• Union experience highly desired.
• Experience in a healthcare setting highly desired.
Duration
6 months, temporary to hire.
