Accounting Manager (Mortgage/Loan)

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to lead our accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, payroll, commission processing, and month-end close. You'll also support financial reporting, compliance, and cross-department collaboration.

This is a key leadership position reporting directly to senior management, with opportunities for growth and influence in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the full cycle of accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors
  • Supervise payroll processes, including commissions for Loan Officers and salaried employees
  • Manage the reconciliation of vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions in accordance with GAAP
  • Collaborate with internal departments to address payment inquiries and resolve financial issues
  • Assist with preparation of financial reports, statements, and analyses for management and external stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Support audits and implement process improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy
  • Oversee or mentor junior accounting staff

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Prior experience in the mortgage or financial services industry highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger management
  • Proficient in accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, etc.) and advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with payroll and commission processing required
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Experience managing overseas accounting operations is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA is a bonus)
