Overview
Senior Quality Manager Martin Marietta is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Quality Manager to lead our quality control efforts across aggregates and asphalt production. Reporting to the Director of Technical Services this role is critical in ensuring compliance with DOT and other regulatory specifications, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of quality excellence throughout our operations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and hands-on leader, capable of developing and implementing quality programs, mentoring QC Managers, QC technicians, and collaborating cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, and Technical Services to achieve operational excellence and sustainability goals. Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Compliance Develop and implement quality standards, procedures, and best practices. Coordinate and support field and laboratory testing to ensure compliance with ASTM and DOT specifications. Audit lab equipment, field instruments, and QA processes to ensure calibration and adherence to SOPs. Conduct inspections and analyze statistical data to monitor process performance and identify deviations. Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration Maintain close working relationships with internal and external customers to align quality goals and enhance satisfaction. Provide technical support to troubleshoot and resolve complex quality or process issues involving materials, sampling, and applications. Innovation & Development Support and participate in R&D of new or improved aggregate materials and testing processes. Lead product development and quality improvement programs, including pilot testing and process optimization. Maintain a database of aggregate product specifications and quality comparisons across markets. Operational Excellence Assess equipment needs and facilitate procurement to support QC operations. Develop and approve new QC methods and techniques as necessary with ASTM and DOT standards. Develop or optimize mix designs to ensure efficiency is achieved through RAP and virgin binder utilization. Qualifications
Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemistry, Geology, or Engineering preferred, or demonstrated equivalent experience. Work Experience 10+ years related experience; prior experience managing all Quality Control activities in an Aggregates or related materials production environment. Demonstrated experience applying Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Quality Tools and Techniques Test Equipment Calibration Laboratory Testing Budgeting Process Protocol & Process Control Resource Management Ability to analyze and interpret quality data to identify process improvements Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to inspire and develop staff Experience coordinating non-routine tests, field trials, and R&D efforts Demonstrated commitment to quality and operational excellence Ability to collaborate across divisions and drive standardization of quality practices The base salary compensation - $160,000-$200,000, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary), will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
