The School of Public Administration at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in August 2026. This is a full-time, tenure-track position. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent terminal degree) in public administration, public affairs, or related field by August 1, 2026. Teach courses for the Master of Public Administration program, including core and required graduate courses. Supervise master’s students and contribute to teaching, research, and service in areas related to human resources, personnel management, representative bureaucracy, and equal opportunity in public or nonprofit sectors. Demonstrate ability to teach and conduct research across these areas; other teaching and research areas may include public or nonprofit service delivery and implementation, community development, and tribal governance. There may be opportunities to teach in other undergraduate and graduate programs. Qualifications
Minimum: A doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent terminal degree) in public administration, public affairs, or related field by August 2026. Preferred: Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public administration or related fields. Demonstrated strong potential for publishing research and scholarship in public administration, public affairs or related fields. Specialization in human resources, personnel, representative bureaucracy, and equal opportunity in public or nonprofit sectors. Specialization in public or nonprofit service delivery and implementation, community development, or tribal governance. Demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the University's mission to serve local and global communities. Application Instructions
