Admissions Counselor (Peabody Admissions)

The Peabody Conservatory Admissions Office seeks an Admissions Counselor to work in consultation with the Executive Director of Enrollment Management to support the strategy and operations of the Admissions Office. This role is involved in all phases of the admissions process, including representing Peabody at in-person and virtual recruitment events, managing applications, facilitating auditions, collaborating with faculty to identify and enroll talented students, and managing day-to-day operations as assigned. The counselor helps build and maintain a recruitment network, supports data collection and reporting to monitor effectiveness, and contributes to outreach and marketing initiatives that promote the Conservatory’s diverse programs. The successful candidate will be highly organized, collaborative, and passionate about music (performance, composition, jazz, technology, hip hop), and dance, with the ability to engage effectively with students, families, and the broader artistic community. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Prospective Student Engagement & Counseling Serve as a primary point of contact for applicants and families, providing guidance on admissions, auditions, and enrollment processes. Maintain communication throughout the application process, including email, phone, and in-person interactions. Recruitment & Relationship Management Manage a recruitment portfolio in collaboration with faculty and departments. Build and maintain relationships with feeder schools, teachers, youth programs, and other community partners. Represent Peabody at on- and off-campus recruitment events, including college fairs, festivals, and high school visits. Event & Audition Coordination Organize auditions, open houses, campus tours, and major recruitment events such as Audition Week. Assist with scheduling, logistics, and faculty coordination for recruitment activities. Data, Reporting & Strategic Support Collect, analyze, and report on recruitment data to inform enrollment planning and scholarship decisions. Support the development and execution of strategic recruitment initiatives. Marketing, Outreach & Communications Collaborate on admissions materials, website content, and creative outreach projects. Contribute to marketing initiatives that promote the Conservatory’s programs. Operations & Staff Support Support, supervise and train student employees. Assist with admissions systems, purchasing, printing, mailings, reimbursements, and other office operations. Support broader admissions office priorities as assigned. Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to travel; multi-tasking ability and sound judgment in complex situations. Ability to work after 5pm and some weekends during peak admissions seasons. Demonstrated aptitude with technology and software, including MS 365 and Slate. Excellent customer service and communications skills. Ability to work as part of a team, to work independently, to work with a diverse clientele, and to maintain confidentiality. Knowledge of and appreciation for music and the performing arts. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree One-year related experience Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. Preferred Qualifications Fundamental knowledge of classical music; experience in admissions. A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in music is strongly preferred. Two years of relevant office or admissions work.
