Overview

RESEARCH SCIENTIST, CRYOEM FACILITY , Biology, will be supporting a diverse and expanding research community in cryogenic sample preparation, imaging, and data analysis and will train and support users in specimen preparation, data collection, and cryoEM/cryoET workflows; maintain and calibrate instruments; assist in collaborative projects; and help shape next-generation techniques in structural biology including leading the integration of the HydraBio system for advanced in situ studies using fluorescence-guided targeting. Located within MIT.nano, the facility features cutting-edge instrumentation, including a Titan Krios (BioQuantum-K3), Talos Arctica (Falcon3EC/K3), and an Aquilos cryo-FIB/SEM (soon to be upgraded to a HydraBio plasma FIB/SEM with Delmic METEOR fluorescence microscope), along with Chameleon and Vitrobot vitrification systems and robust computational infrastructure. Responsibilities include user training and mentoring (~35%), facility operations and administration (~30%), collaborative work and staff-assisted usage (~20%), equipment maintenance (~10%), and community engagement (~5%).
