Compensation is competitive in the non-profit sector and based on experience Position Summary 47G seeks a full-time Director of Finance to lead all aspects of the finance function. This role replaces our current part-time CFO and will serve as the senior-most finance leader inside the organization. The successful candidate will be both strategic and hands-on—responsible for day-to-day accounting and reporting while also driving financial planning and analysis, grant compliance, internal controls, and cybersecurity readiness (CMMC). This leader will also direct financial audits, manage tax filings, and provide clear guidance to the executive team and Board of Directors. Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy

Serve as the senior finance leader for the organization, reporting directly to the COO. Provide financial insights and recommendations to inform strategic decisions. Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial models. Present financial results, risks, and opportunities to the executive team and Board of Directors. Financial Operations

Manage accounting functions including AR, AP, payroll, reconciliations, and monthly close. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for leadership and the Board. Monitor cash flow, reserves, and surplus planning. Grant & Nonprofit Compliance

Oversee financial management of state and federal grants, including reporting, audits, and compliance. Ensure adherence to 501(c)(6) and 501(c)(3) nonprofit financial practices. Lead annual audits and coordinate with external tax professionals on filings and compliance. Partner with auditors, tax preparers, and regulatory agencies. Systems, Controls & Security

Lead improvements in financial systems and reporting automation. Maintain and strengthen internal controls across financial processes. Oversee organizational compliance efforts related to cybersecurity, including CMMC readiness. Safeguard sensitive financial and organizational data. Business Partnering

Support program leaders with financial analysis, dashboards, and impact reporting. Build tools and processes that help staff manage budgets effectively. Collaborate with the COO and leadership team on growth initiatives, capital strategies, and fundraising. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (CPA or MBA preferred). 7 years progressive finance/accounting experience, ideally in a nonprofit, association, or grant-funded environment. Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit financial management, and compliance. Hands-on experience in AR/AP, FP&A, and grant reporting. Experience with financial systems, internal controls, and cybersecurity protocols (CMMC a plus). Proven experience leading audits and working with tax professionals. Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar). Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
