Program and Research Focus Postdoctoral positions are available for the Postdoctoral Research Training in Lung Injury and Inflammation training program supported by an NIH T32 grant (PIs: Drs. Steve Dudek and Irena Levitan). The program aims to develop the next generation of scientific leaders in pulmonary and critical care medicine through three integrated thematic pathways:

Molecular Mechanisms and Preclinical Models

Computational and Omic Approaches

Comparative Effectiveness and Health Inequality

New recruits will contribute to cutting-edge projects as part of an NIH-funded Center and have opportunities to build a productive research-oriented career.

Responsibilities (as described by the posting)

Engage in state-of-the-art training and contribute to projects within the three thematic pathways.

Collaborate with a team of scientists on translational and computational approaches related to lung injury and inflammation.

Participate in data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings through manuscripts and presentations as appropriate for a postdoctoral trainee.

Projects and Areas

Dr. Steven Dudek: Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms of ARDS and endothelial dysfunction; studies include Staphylococcus aureus–related ARDS using in vitro, in vivo, and bioinformatic models.

Dr. Bharati Prasad: Sleep-disordered breathing, prognostic biomarkers for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), and diverse population trials.

Dr. Israel Rubinstein: Indoor air quality and respiratory health, with projects linking indoor air quality to conditions such as asthma, COPD, and sleep disorders.

Dr. Dustin Fraidenburg: Pulmonary hypertension—endothelial dysfunction, hemolysis, and endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition research; endothelial barrier function studies.

Dr. Patrick Belvitch: Regulation of pulmonary endothelial cell barrier function by cytoskeletal proteins.

Qualifications

PhD/Doctorate in physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or related biomedical sciences.

U.S. citizen or permanent resident with a strong record of first-author publications.

Experience with pulmonary physiology is a plus.
