Overview

This Opportunity WSP USA is initiating a search for an Estimator (Electrical, General Construction, Mechanical, Plumbing) supporting our client, NYC School Construction Authority (SCA). The candidate will prepare and review construction cost estimates for various construction projects in various stages of development. The Estimator is responsible for providing detailed cost estimates on new construction, rehabilitation, alterations, replacement systems, Capital Improvement projects (CIP), change orders and participate in cost negotiations in all disciplines in Change Orders. Estimators are responsible Change Order estimates for all project types, including CIP and Line Project estimates. Responsibilities

Confer with a broad range of designers, consultants and contractors to coordinate and establish detailed cost estimates for construction projects. Prepare and/or facilitate the preparation of detailed cost estimates for all phases of design and/or construction. Supervise the development of quantity surveys and cost evaluations relating to design documents, contract drawings, specifications or contract changes. Review and report on contract estimates prepared by consultants; recommend if estimate is appropriate for SCA's implementation. Review contractor proposals and compare them to scope of work. Determine fair and reasonable value of work based on the proposal submitted. Delineate cost by trade and discipline. Communicate with contractors and sub-contractors to explain the SCA point of view on reasonable cost of work. Participate in cost negotiations. Plan, assign and review the cost estimating work of estimates. Perform related tasks as assigned. Who You Are

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in architecture, construction management, engineering, environmental services or related coursework. 3-5 years of full time, technical experience in one of the estimating areas of architecture, electrical, mechanical or plumbing. A satisfactory combination of education and experience. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge in use of HCSS HeavyBid, Sage Timberline, or other estimating application Construction contractor estimating experience This position is subject to and contingent upon client approval of candidates put forth for consideration by WSP. Benefits

Compensation

Expected Salary: $65,300 - $125,300 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law. #LI-VD1
