The Solar Project Developer II will contribute to and manage distributed community solar and solar + storage project development efforts across the U.S. This mid-level role focuses on advancing assigned workstreams within larger projects, including interconnection, permitting, surveying, and financial modeling. Candidates should have a strong understanding of DG community solar and net metering development, and be eager to collaborate with cross-functional teams while growing toward greater autonomy. Candidates based to work during Eastern Time (EST) hours are strongly . Responsibilities
Lead and manage assigned workstreams within solar and storage projects, contributing to all phases of development. Assist with Project Developer 3/ Project Developer Manager Tasks as need Oversee permitting, land use applications, interconnection, surveying, and financial modeling for assigned projects. Maintain project schedules, deliverables, and budgets using ERP and scheduling platforms. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, legal, procurement, project finance, and deployment. Assist in negotiations for leases, LOIs, and PPAs, providing support on complex agreements. Manage vendor and consultant relationships to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Perform due diligence and financial analysis in active and emerging markets. Identify risks and opportunities within scope, escalating issues to senior staff when appropriate. Support process improvement initiatives and contribute to broader company growth strategies. Qualifications
46 years of renewable energy development experience, preferably within distributed and community solar. Strong understanding of community solar, DG solar + storage, and net metering project development, including financial incentive structures. Proven ability to successfully manage project workstreams and contribute to large-scale project development. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and resolve practical issues. Bachelors degree in a related field required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage workload with moderate autonomy. Proficiency with MS Office, CRMs, ERP systems, and shared drives. Willingness to travel occasionally. Benefits & Compensation
