Advertised Job Summary: Serving as the Human Resources Manager for University Libraries, reporting to the Assistant Dean, Director of Administrative Services, this position provides oversight in all aspects of University Libraries Human Resources activities and works closely with the Assistant Dean in this capacity. The incumbent is required to exercise independent judgment and has discretion in performance of duties. Qualifications

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience: Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 3 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of State and USC Human Resources policies and procedures; Knowledge of general Human Resources standards and practices. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion according to schedules and goals. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with internal and external customers. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures. Responsibilities

Job Duty: Works with Library Administration and Division of Human Resources to create and oversee ongoing employee recognition programs, including bonus programs.

Essential Function: Yes; Percentage of Time: 10 Job Duty: Serves as the department’s liaison with the Division of Human Resources Employee Relations Office as it relates to employee relations issues. Advises management and employees in employer/employee relations matters, disciplinary actions and other related issues.

Essential Function: Yes; Percentage of Time: 15 Job Duty: Educates employees on HR policies and procedures and employee benefits.

Essential Function: Yes; Percentage of Time: 5 Job Duty: Provide guidance on recruitment and employment matters as needed.

Essential Function: Yes; Percentage of Time: 5 Job Duty: Oversees and directs the day-to-day activities of University Libraries Human Resources activities including supervision of the Human Resources Coordinator.

Essential Function: Yes; Percentage of Time: 20 Job Duty: Analyzes all position descriptions and ensures they are properly classified and ensure all position descriptions are written in alignment with organizational strategic goals. Monitors and oversees the ongoing process of ensuring the department has current position descriptions for each position.

Essential Function: Yes; Percentage of Time: 15 Job Duty: Identifies and coordinates professional development opportunities for University Libraries faculty and staff to ensure employees keep abreast of new trends and technologies and are able to master the new skill sets required to support the Libraries’ needs. Works with University Libraries’ Professional Development Committee and USC Human Resources Organizational and Professional Development to advertise training opportunities. Incumbent will be required to occasionally perform in-house training on various subjects.
