Overview

Location and job details: Yazoo City, MS; 1 vacancy; Permanent, Full-time; Salary range: $73,939 to $115,213 per year; Applications Open 10/27/2025 to 11/18/2025. Duties

Serves as a manager at a Bureau of Prisons (BOP) federal correctional institution. Plan immediate and long-range staffing needs. Develop a recruitment and staffing plan to identify management’s needs. Oversee staffing functions including requesting certificates of eligibles, scheduling and conducting interviews, BOP-HIRES issues, and preparation of security clearance requests. Provide guidance on pay administration issues and administer the leave program in a fair and compliant manner. Coordinate local labor management negotiations and ensure security of the institution in adherence to policies and regulations. Maintain and ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations related to human resources and staffing. Requirements and Conditions

U.S. Citizenship is Required. Geographic relocation may be required to meet agency needs. Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation; NCIC and credit checks may be conducted. All applicants not currently working in an institution will be required to complete a qualification inquiry regarding convictions of misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence to be authorized to carry a firearm. Initial appointment to a supervisory/managerial position requires a one-year probationary period. CTAP/ICTAP/other Career Transition programs may apply to eligible Federal employees. Qualifications

To be considered, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: GS-11:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related. Graduate education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. GS-12:

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position at these levels. Experience: GS-11 and GS-12:

At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of qualifying experience include: Experience with a Human Resources program for an organization with diverse administrative and professional roles. Experience providing guidance on HR programs and issues to employees. Experience reviewing applications, interviewing and processing applicants and/or new employees, assisting employees in resolving employment issues, and coaching/instructing employees. GS-12:

Experience working with multiple HR programs in a large organization and providing guidance on HR programs to managers/supervisors; drafting labor management correspondence; applying policies related to hiring; and implementing developmental programs for employees.
