Base pay range $37,200.00/yr - $48,300.00/yr

As a school recognized for academic excellence and committed to holistic experience for our students, the South Carolina Governor's School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) invites applications for Lead Residence Life Coordinator (RLC).
The Lead Residence Life Coordinator is a full‑time live‑in 12‑month state of South Carolina position with full benefits, including an apartment with amenities as well as a meal plan. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with education, experience, and unique qualifications. Specific job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Direct, guide, and supervise students in all non‑academic areas.
Counsel students regarding residential matters on an individual and group basis.
Supervise and mentor five RLCs and RAs in the residence life staff.
Support community building, personal growth, and development for all residents.
Manage crises, conflicts, and emergencies.
Conduct regular inspections of the residence hall to support health and safety of residents and overall building safety.
Report residence hall maintenance issues in a consistent and timely manner.
Maintain regular office hours and on‑call duties.
Participate in all training activities before the opening of school in August and throughout the year.
Communicate with parents and guardians as needed.
Report and address violations of the GSSM Discipline and Honor policy as outlined in the Student Handbook and maintain records.
Complete other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students and/or the Vice President for Student Development.
Minimum and Additional Requirements A bachelor's degree in a human‑service related field and comparable experience. Candidates with a master's degree in student affairs, administration, education, sociology or related field are welcome.
Additional Requirements
Strong communication skills, particularly written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to and successful experience working with diverse populations.
Candidates must also possess a valid driver's license and pass a SLED background check.
This is a live‑in position. Requires day, night, and weekend work and includes rotating duty/call shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with high school or college students, preferably in a residential school setting.
Self‑motivated; ability to work autonomously.
Ability to contribute positively to the existing team.
