Position
Structural Engineer – Energy Group (Denver area, virtual team, occasional travel).
Overview Stantec is looking for a Structural Engineer to support our Energy group. The ideal candidate has a strong background in civil/structural engineering, with emphasis in dams and hydraulic structures, and applies civil engineering principles to broad assignments. The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver design solutions and ensure construction compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Participate on multidisciplinary teams in a virtual team environment as well as in an office environment.
Perform preliminary and detailed civil/structural analysis and design for concrete, steel, hydraulic structures.
Preparation of studies, design criteria, design reports, plans and specifications, and review of related designs and construction plans, and support of construction.
Organize, draft and coordinate production of various reports to ensure technical consistency and inclusion of appropriate documentation.
Inspect construction for compliance with specifications; review and approve drawings; conduct field inspections; review progress versus schedule.
Assist with preparation of budgets and scopes of work.
Assist in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, and completing progress reports.
Assist technical staff in field activities including site inspections, shop inspections, monitoring and other fieldwork.
Work in a manner to ensure personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
Capabilities & Credentials
Strong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and excellent computer skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, report preparation, and the ability to work with engineering staff at all levels.
Ability to prepare complete, concise, and organized engineering calculations and analyses related to medium to large concrete/hydraulic structures associated with dams, tunnels and hydroelectric facilities.
Experience with Excel and/or MATHCAD programs.
Will be based out of the Denver area but requires willingness to work in a virtual team across offices and occasional project travel.
Strong willingness to be part of a large global engineering company, and to work with teams in other offices around the world.
Education & Experience
B.S. in Civil Engineering with focus on Structural engineering; Master’s degree with emphasis in structural engineering preferred PE.
8+ years’ experience in the design and implementation of large infrastructure.
Preferred Experience: structural analysis and design of hydraulic structures and familiarity with the relevant codes and guidelines.
Preferred Software Experience: finite element software such as SAP2000, ANSYS or LS DYNA.
Salary
Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas – Min Salary $100,000.00 – Max Salary $145,000.00.
