Role Summary The Project Engineer 2 will complete and support routine construction and field execution responsibilities for projects. Responsibilities include general construction management, punch lists, site monitoring, QA/QC, procurement, scheduling, and project close‑out activities. The position supports JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values through excellent execution of construction best practices.

Key Role Responsibilities – Core

Participate in all company safety and quality plans and demonstrate a commitment to an injury‑free environment.

Participate with project QA/QC planning to ensure quality for assigned tasks.

Learn and participate in estimating and change management processes, including quantity take‑off and subcontractor proposal review.

Work on site with the project team to support crew size, self‑perform hours, materials, quantity, and equipment monitoring.

Participate in punch lists, city inspections, safety reviews, quality reviews, and documentation preparation.

Post drawings and specifications with the most recent information.

Organize and participate in project meetings, preparing and disseminating required documentation.

Prepare reports such as daily project reports, weekly progress reports, unit reports, percentage complete, daily manpower, production schedules, equipment tracking, and more.

Perform periodic job site observations with project leadership.

Create procurement logs based on the project schedule and specifications; track shop drawings and follow up on deliveries.

Provide progress updates and reports back to the project team to support the scheduling process.

Support project close‑out, including punch list, operations and maintenance manuals, and as‑built drawings.

Utilize company best‑practice standards and fundamentals for building and construction techniques.

Develop communication and interpersonal skills with tradespeople and project team members.

Understand company functions and how each contributes to project success.

Collaborate and demonstrate teamwork in a project setting.

Incorporate Lean practices into regular activities.

Identify opportunities for self‑perform integration into the project.

Key Role Responsibilities – Additional Core

Implement project safety plans and foster a culture of compliance using training, toolbox talks, and safety representative communication.

Prepare estimates, schedules, work plans, daily logs, and other supporting documents.

Pre‑plan crew activities, fulfill daily task plan requirements, complete look‑ahead schedules, and update project superintendent.

Support and complete job set‑up and project administration in CMiC and other company technologies.

Manage subcontractor scope of work with the project team.

Coordinate internal project support functions as directed.

Control costs by evaluating and improving processes for assigned tasks.

Assist with the development and maintenance of project crew schedules.

Provide analysis for MOC materials and other costs and equipment on project sites.

Support and mentor less experienced project team members.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Perform work accurately, completely, and on time.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in MS Office.

Knowledge of organizational structure and available resources.

Knowledge of Lean process and philosophy.

Knowledge of required construction technology.

Apply fundamentals of construction management.

Knowledge of self‑perform and labor productivity.

Assess and optimize project productivity.

Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work.

Build relationships and collaborate within a team.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.

Equivalent relevant experience considered.

Experience

2+ years construction experience.

Working Environment

Must lift at least 50 pounds.

Periods of travel and/or relocation may be required.

Must work non‑traditional hours to meet project needs.

Exposure to extreme conditions (hot or cold) possible.

Frequent activity: Standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling.

Occasional activity: Sitting, viewing computer screen.
