Overview
Program Coordinator for Leadership Development at The University of Kansas. Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) is an administrative unit that supports and advocates for sorority and fraternity organizations (IFC, MGC, NPHC, PHA). The Program Coordinator designs, implements, and evaluates leadership development programs for all SFL member organizations and fosters partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, providing harm and safety education and supporting accountability processes and data management. Responsibilities
50% Leadership Development Develop, coordinate, and implement leadership development programs, workshops, and retreats tailored to the needs of sorority and fraternity members. Create and deliver curriculum focusing on leadership theory, practical skills, and personal development. Coordinate with campus partners to offer diverse and comprehensive leadership opportunities. Establish and maintain collegial relationships with chapter/graduate advisors, inter/national headquarters, and university/community stakeholders. Serve as a point of contact for students, families, faculty, staff, and community and headquarters partners on issues related to Sorority and Fraternity life. Collaborate with SFL Program Coordinators to create and implement semesterly new member training for all new members across all four councils. Collaborate with SFL staff to create educational, cultural, social justice and leadership development programs for various membership elements of the SFL community. Collaborate with SFL staff to support advisor training and meetings with chapter advisors to establish and reinforce expectations. Provide crisis response and support to chapters and students in collaboration with the Director of SFL and the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs. 35% Program Management, Operations, and Advising Support Graduate Assistant(s) in advising one or more council(s) through an experience-based approach (mentoring, officer transitions, monthly meetings, and other interactions). Support formal and informal recruitment processes for all SFL councils. Hold regular advising meetings concerning academic achievement, fiscal responsibility, student engagement, leadership skill acquisition, membership development, harm reduction, and chapter problem solving through a chapter support model. Provide guidance and support to SFL organizations in planning and executing community service and philanthropic events. Support chapters through council, university, or national headquarters accountability processes and outcomes. Assist SFL leaders in developing strategies to address community concerns and issues. Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator to manage a community events calendar for chapter, council, and whole-community events. Assist with budget development and management as directed. Manage and maintain rosters, grade report records, and officer information for chapters following KU FERPA policies. 10% Assessment Manage, compile, and distribute council statistical information and database reports (e.g., grade reports) in collaboration with SFL staff. Coordinate the evaluation and assessment of designated departmental programs. Collaborate on Sorority & Fraternity Life Community Standards tracking and annual reporting. Contribute to overall Student Affairs assessment efforts and reporting. Monitor best practices in the SFL field and assist in implementation where appropriate. 5% Other Duties Serve on Division and University committees external to Sorority and Fraternity Life when asked. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree with three years of related experience. Minimum of one-year full-time experience advising fraternities/sororities or student organizations on a college campus or related responsibilities as evidenced by application materials (two years as a graduate assistant equals one year of professional experience). Excellent written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by application materials. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in higher education, college student personnel, educational leadership, counseling, psychology, social welfare, public health, public administration or related field. Experience working with students, volunteers, and/or staff of NIC, NALFO, NAPA, NPC, NPHC umbrella organizations. Experience in organizing large-scale events from conceptualization to execution.
