Come lead with us at Houston Methodist Hospital. The Physical Therapist I (PT) position is responsible for assessing patients and developing the therapy plan of care. The PT provides education to patients, families, and collaborators, and works with the interprofessional team to resolve problems and achieve identified patient-specific goals. As a member of the patient care team, the PT delivers direct patient care, ensuring exceptional care with adherence to safety standards and guidelines for optimal outcomes.

Essential Functions

People Essential Functions : promotes a positive work environment and collaborates with the interprofessional team, actively communicating patient care information.

Service Essential Functions : performs comprehensive evaluations, develops and implements treatment plans, provides education, collaborates on progress and discharge planning, and advocates for patient/family concerns.

Quality/Safety Essential Functions : monitors progress, modifies goals, ensures safety, documents activities, identifies corrective actions, and supports quality improvement.

Finance Essential Functions : documents patient education, enters accurate charges, manages time efficiently, and meets productivity standards.

Growth/Innovation Essential Functions : participates in evidence‑based projects, identifies opportunities for innovation, and supports continuous professional development.

Qualifications

Graduate of an approved education program for the required credential(s). No required work experience specified.

Licenses: BLS – Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) and PT – Physical Therapist state licensure (Compact license acceptable) within 90 days.

Proficiency in English language skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and the healthcare team.

Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills; commitment to customer‑service excellence.

Proficient computer skills and ability to operate standard rehabilitation equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Competent assessment, organizational and problem‑solving skills to prioritize multiple tasks.

Ability to function independently and exercise professional judgment in patient care.

Professional competence in selecting, evaluating, and utilising treatment plans.
