The Development Coordinator (DC) plays a pivotal role in the day‑to‑day execution of fundraising event efforts that support our organizational strategy and mission. In this role you will build relationships with donors and fundraising volunteers within your assigned event portfolio (Ride, Run, Your Way/DIY, and supporting Walk), driving impact and strengthening donor and volunteer engagement to increase revenue and results.

The DC implements activities to support organizational strategies, drives optimal results, and actively promotes enterprise‑wide mindsets.

Key Responsibilities

Implement revenue and engagement plans that drive new levels of performance and year‑over‑year growth in the chapter, including individual and corporate supporter growth within the assigned event portfolio.

Achieve personal event revenue goals and support overall event and chapter revenue and engagement goals.

Collaborate with chapter partners to implement annual strategies that grow assigned event portfolio donor engagement and stewardship at the event level.

Execute stewardship strategies for all event supporters, ensuring timely and consistent implementation throughout the year.

Deploy tactics and strategies within the event portfolio that build a foundation and pipeline for long‑term success of the organization.

Implement strategies to retain, acquire, and activate supporters in events, ensuring fundraising and participation goals are met for current and future activities.

Provide 1:1 coaching of fundraising best practices with event participants; elevate fundraising activation.

Develop and implement recruitment and fundraising engagement events that lead to increased participation and fundraising activation.

Volunteer Management

Ensure meaningful engagement of volunteers at all levels and maintain strong working relationships with key volunteer partners.

Partner with volunteer leadership to solicit funding and other support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources of influence.

Awareness

Support and maintain the vision, mission, and priorities of Breakthrough T1D.

Demonstrate an educated and enthusiastic understanding of Breakthrough T1D’s mission and research therapeutics; promote mission engagement opportunities throughout the community.

Represent the interests, professionalism, and integrity of Breakthrough T1D in all activities and relationships through a commitment to organizational standards and leadership by personal example.

Administration and Management

Maintain departmental and organization‑wide policies and procedures.

Develop expertise in fundraising management platforms, as appropriate.

Support event logistics as needed to ensure successful and smooth event experiences for volunteers and event participants.

Requirements

2+ years of fundraising experience with a clear record of achievement in a complex, mission‑driven organization, including revenue responsibilities of more than $250k and experience in large‑scale events (walk, gala, etc.). Demonstrated experience in cultivation and ongoing stewardship of donors and supporters.

Experience partnering with strong and active volunteers, including working successfully with a large network of passionate volunteers.

High degree of energy, integrity, courage, empathy, and creativity; a team player who achieves individual objectives and supports those of the chapter team.

Proven ability to manage event details, timelines, and efficient time management; able to meet deadlines under pressure.

Enthusiastic spokesperson for Breakthrough T1D’s mission; clear communicator who can inspire others to engage and support the organization.

College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to travel locally; evening and weekend work as needed.
