Location: Eugene, Medford, or Salem, Oregon (finalist may select work location). The position may be hybrid. Required travel may include statewide field visits, public hearings, and conferences.
What you will do
Draft highly complex Title V and ACDP Air Quality permits for industrial, commercial, and municipal air sources.
Analyze facility operations, review permits, perform compliance inspections, and evaluate emissions data.
Investigate complaints and prepare enforcement actions for violations of state and federal rules.
Conduct complex analyses of air pollution issues and propose solutions.
Serve as a technical resource on permitting, compliance, and enforcement for local governments, regulatory agencies, and the public.

What we’re looking for
Minimum 7 years of experience in a natural resource or environmental field, with at least 1 year in a technical program requiring research, data analysis, investigation, or regulatory application.
Bachelor’s degree in physical science, environmental science, natural resources, or related field substitutes for 3 years of experience.
Master’s degree substitutes for 4 years; Doctorate substitutes for 5 years of experience.
Expert knowledge of Title V, ACDP regulations, and related permitting requirements.
Strong communication skills – written and oral, with ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
Experience with compliance inspections, enforcement processes, and partnership building with stakeholders.
Understanding of environmental justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion, with a commitment to advancing these values.
Ability to maintain Visible Emissions Certification and manage field operations under variable conditions.
Working Conditions Hybrid work may be available, with DEQ providing laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and phone. Field duties may involve overnight stays, weekend work, and exposure to inclement weather or environmental contaminants. The role requires travel across Oregon and participation in public hearings and conferences.
