Nevada Gold Mines LLC – Carlin District (NGM) is looking for an Environmental Engineer/Specialist to join the Process Metallurgical Services team at Carlin - Goldstrike. The successful candidate would support the four process facilities within the Carlin Complex: the Goldstrike Roaster, Goldstrike Autoclave, Gold Quarry Roaster and the Heap Leach Operations. The candidate will ensure all legal and compliance obligations of the mine are achieved with regard to monitoring, recordkeeping programs, permits, and provide direction to support services to operational teams on system/program improvements and sustainability.

Responsibilities

Work closely with operations, maintenance, metallurgy, and environmental departments to ensure compliance and safe operations at Carlin Complex Process Facilities and alignment with the NGM DNA.

Develop and sustain data collection systems for the purpose of environmental monitoring and compliance.

Ensure compliance with RCRA requirements for LQG and SQG, including inspections, profiling and determinations, shipments, and manifesting.

Support the Leach, Autoclave and Roaster operations in achieving their production targets while also maintaining environmental regulatory compliance for emissions.

Evaluate monitoring data and identify changes in trends that require further investigation and potential mitigation.

Provide technical guidance and recommendations to process facilities and stakeholders.

Assist operations with proper disposal of any waste materials to ensure they are packaged, stored and shipped properly for final disposal/recycling.

Lead and sustain Cyanide Code compliance.

Responsible for maintaining and updating the TSF and Processing water balance.

Monitor and calibrate environmental monitoring equipment.

Research and develop environmental process improvements.

Troubleshooting/investigating issues related to environmental monitoring and compliance.

Align work practices with NGM Health, Safety, and Environmental ISO 14001 and 45001 standards.

Lead by example and promote the NGM Safety and Environmental programs and initiatives.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental, Civil, Mining, Metallurgical, Chemical Engineering or related field preferred.

Basic knowledge of refractory gold processing preferred.

Effective verbal and written communication required.

Strong math skills required.

Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) required.

Strong computer skills in OSI PI preferred.

Ability to work and communicate effectively with operations, maintenance, support, and management personnel required.

Capable of walking up and down stairs along with uneven surfaces, with or without reasonable accommodations required.
