Position Summary
The Class A Lineman Transmission is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical transmission systems. This position works at various locations and may require travel to another state depending on customer demands. Essential Functions
Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de‑energized transmission work. Capable of leading crew members in the absence of the Foreman. Stringing overhead wire. Setting poles and anchors. Troubleshooting problems on transmission systems. Frequently work with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of oneself and others. Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order. Perform all other related work as required to complete the job. Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather. Able to perform rigorous physical labor. Able to identify transmission primary and secondary voltage on a circuit. Proficient in all aspects of transmission line work. Obtain knowledge of hot stick work on energized lines. Proficient in understanding and reading blueprints. Properly sag wire. Lead crew in assembly and erection of structures to all heights. Understand dead‑ending and sagging operations for all conductors. Execute hot line work on conductor systems. Operate digger derrick. Understand bare hand work on 44 KV & 100 KV. Proficient in pole/tower climbing. Perform all heavy lifting and rigging safely. Familiar with induced voltage. Understand grounding procedures. Work at heights and/or confined spaces. Install and remove PPE and cover‑up correctly. Climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) with necessary tools. Phase out a line using phasing sticks and understand their proper use. Identify and locate puller and tensioner setups. Plan safe work based on a job print or work order. Obtain a one‑shot on a recloser. Understand minimum approach distance. Flag and tag procedures. Perform basic bucket rescue/escape. Conduct pre‑job or tailgate briefings effectively. Safely perform a reconductoring job. Install and remove mechanical jumpers safely. Inspect rubber goods, cover and PPE properly. Minimum Requirements
5-year minimum of recent field experience. Read and communicate effectively in English. Obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment. Commercial Driver’s License is preferred. Travel long distances on short notice when required. Work for extended periods in various locations when required. Lift in excess of 50 lbs. Inspect rubber goods and PPE properly. Willing to work overtime when requested. Willingness to work on high voltage transmission lines. Work outside normal work schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required. Physical Demands
