Open Rank – Tenure track, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science John Jay College of Criminal Justice is a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY) and an internationally recognized leader in educating for justice. FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Mathematics & Computer Science Department of John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY) invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in Computer Science, to begin Spring/Fall semester 2026. The department currently employs 17 tenured/tenure‑track and 21 lecturer faculty who support a thriving undergraduate Computer Science major, an Applied Mathematics major, and a graduate program in Digital Forensics and Cybersecurity. This position seeks to expand expertise at the intersection of Cybersecurity and AI, with special emphasis on AI for cyber incident response, building secure systems, and forensics.

It is a tenure‑bearing position after the seventh annual reappointment, with a course load of six courses (18 credits) per year at both undergraduate and graduate levels. New faculty members receive contractual course release time to engage in research and scholarship. Candidates are expected to bring enthusiasm, demonstrated teaching commitment, and an active research and publication agenda. The college seeks faculty who thrive in a multicultural, collaborative academic environment and are committed to access and excellence in higher education.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching cybersecurity, incident response, offensive/defensive security, and digital forensics. Competency in computer architecture, computer networking, and computer/security forensics is preferred. Applicants with a proven track record of research at the intersection of AI and cybersecurity are especially encouraged. A PhD in computer science and a strong record of scholarship, demonstrated through peer‑reviewed publications or potential for such, are required. Candidates in the final year of their PhD who will defend before the appointment date are encouraged to apply. Associate‑rank candidates must also have a track record of successful grant funding from state, federal, or private sources.

Compensation Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience within the range of $79,598 to $94,909 for the Assistant rank and $90,838 to $113,982 for the Associate rank.
