Position Summary This part‑time role supports communications and marketing efforts for the In St. Louis, For St. Louis Initiative within the Office of the Chancellor. The position manages social media accounts, publishes digital newsletters, maintains the website, and coordinates branded materials with University Marketing & Communications. It collaborates with communications professionals across the university to amplify the initiative message through shared content and coordinated storytelling, helping to communicate WashU’s impact in the St. Louis region.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Social Media Management: create and schedule engaging content for Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn; monitor and respond to audience engagement; track performance metrics; collaborate with university‑wide communications professionals to promote aligned content.

Digital Newsletters: manage content, layout, and distribution for two monthly newsletters on platforms such as Emma; coordinate with internal partners; maintain and update distribution lists.

Website Maintenance: update and maintain the In St. Louis, For St. Louis website using WordPress; ensure accurate, timely content; collaborate to post news, resources, and reports.

Coordination with University Marketing & Communications: liaise to order branded items, request graphic design support, and manage collateral production; work closely with communicators across schools and units to promote university‑wide stories related to the initiative.

General Communications Support: participate in planning meetings; maintain internal communications tracking systems such as content calendars and asset libraries; perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment at the WashU Community Engagement Office.

Ability to travel to on‑ and off‑campus locations.

Occasional local out‑of‑office work.

Typical effort: sitting at a desk.

Equipment provided by university.

Education and Experience Required Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience; 2 years of relevant experience in digital communications; proficiency with Instagram, LinkedIn, WordPress, Emma, and basic graphic design.

Preferred Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree (preferred), 3 years of digital communications experience; advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills; experience creating video or multimedia content; collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills.

Salary $23.37 – $36.19 per hour.
