Pay Range Base pay range: $132,380.00/yr - $221,070.00/yr

Location Hybrid – remote from home with quarterly in‑person meetings in our Seattle office.

About the Role The Senior Healthcare Actuary will develop and monitor risk and rating assumptions and lead required state and federal documentation for actuarial assumptions used in pricing of the products. The role provides management with analyses, reporting and recommendations on product performance, and handles calculation, review of reserves and forecasting/trend analysis.

Responsibilities

Develop and monitor risk and rating assumptions.

Lead state and federal documentation pertaining to actuarial assumptions.

Provide management with product‑performance analyses and recommendations.

Calculate and review reserves and perform forecasting and trend analysis.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics or Mathematics.

Current Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) credential.

Minimum eight (8) years working as a Healthcare Actuary at or on behalf of a health plan in managed Medicaid and/or Medicare Advantage and/or Individual & Family lines of business.

Experience in pricing, reserving, and forecasting within health care actuarial practice.

Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of automobile insurance for travel on behalf of the employer.

Essential Functions and Roles

Interpret state and federal requirements related to product design, rate development, and premium stabilization programs.

Complete actuarial modeling; develop lag triangles, completion factors, trends and reserve requirements.

Manage federal and state actuarial filings and pricing submissions.

Design and build complex data models.

Perform quantitative analysis of actuarial, financial, utilization and cost data.

Review work of outside actuarial consultants to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Manage projects from inception to completion.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of recent healthcare‑related legislation.

Data analysis skills; proficient in handling large data sets.

Skilled in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and database applications.

Strong communication skills, including oral presentations and written reports.

Ability to build strong working relationships with state, federal, and consulting actuaries.

Capability to prepare health plan statistical, financial, budgetary, and other specialty reports.

Hiring Process Requirements

Complete and successfully pass a criminal background check.

Compensation and Benefits FLSA Exempt. 10% annual incentive target based on company, department, and individual performance goals. Base pay will reflect internal equity and candidate qualifications.

Sensory: Speaking, hearing, near and far vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, touch, smell, balance.

Mental: Ability to learn and prioritize multiple tasks, manage conflict, communicate effectively, and meet time‑sensitive deadlines.
