You can learn about our benefits here:**Job Summary:**A Community Health Educator Supervisor plans, conducts and provides direction to others on health education and promotional programs. Work of this class involves supervising community health education personnel.Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office where working conditions are normal. Work requires minimal physical exertion.**Minimum Qualifications:**
***On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:*****Education:** Have a master's degree in public or community health education from an accredited college or university.**AND****Experience:** Have three years of experience in community health education.**OR****Equivalency Notes:** Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.**NOTE:** In some designated positions, specific experience providing community health education in HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Diseases or Tuberculosis may be required.Some positions in this class may require, in addition to fluency in English, fluency in reading, writing, speaking and translating English into a non-English language.**\*\*APPLICATION DEADLINE:** *Please submit your application no later than 12:00 AM on the closing date to be eligible for consideration. \*\****Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:*** Knowledge of the principles and techniques of community health education.* Knowledge of individual and group behavior.* Skill, in certain designated positions, in speaking, translating, reading and writing a non-English language utilizing specific established rules pertaining to such factors as spelling in letters or characters in a Latin or non-Latin-based alphabet or writing system, word meanings, sentence structure, grammar, pronunciation, punctuation and other related language mechanics.* Ability to plan and conduct community health education and promotional programs.* Ability to establish community health education and promotional evaluation systems.* Ability to utilize computer and common business presentation software packages to prepare community health education and promotion materials.* Ability to develop and conduct in-service training programs in community health education.* Ability to act as a community health education consultant.* Ability to deal with City government officials and personnel and community groups and organizations.**Additional Information****Background Check**
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.**Probation**All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.**Eligibility**Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
**Education Accreditation**Applicants’ education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.**Selection Process**All candidates indicating the minimum qualifications on their applications will be placed on the eligible list without further examination. The training and experience of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity. It is essential, therefore, that you give complete and accurate information on your application.
