This position is based out of our National Support Center in South Denver (I-25 & Colorado Blvd). The selected individual will reside in the Denver metropolitan area and will report to the President and COO of Tuff Shed. This is a highly collaborative role and will partner with the CEO, COO, all other chief officers, and executive level team members.
The Vice President of Production will be responsible for the direct oversight of the production, manufacturing, and installation functions for nationwide factory stores. This position will lead the company’s construction and prefabrication, manufacturing and building production environment through mentoring, process improvement, and cross-functional team leadership with a focus on achieving superior performance in cost, quality and productivity.
The essential functions for this position include but are not strictly limited to:
Participate in the preparation, management, and execution of all production plans and budgets
Responsible for nationwide oversight of manufacturing, production and installation
Oversight of the maintenance of factory store assets (tools, machinery, vehicles) in a safe, functional, cost-effective manner providing maximum reliability and availability for the production environment
Apply production/construction expertise on complex production goals, issues and direction
Must take the lead to interpret complex business processes for all functions
Manages staffing levels, wages, scheduling models and overall labor rates for all manufacturing and installation
Use production/construction expertise to develop and implement process improvement principles and projects
Troubleshoot production, management, and personnel challenges
Participate in multi-disciplinary teams on various projects
Responsible for negotiation of contracts and pricing with core/key national suppliers
Inventory levels at manufacturing locations
Development and leadership of production leadership teams including Shop Supervisors, Foremen, Production Managers, Operations Managers, and Assistant Managers.
Skill, business, and leadership development of the Regional Production Directors.
Identification, evaluation, and execution of acquisition opportunities in construction and manufacturing
Foster and develop an enterprise-wide information sharing within industry/related industries, businesses, employees, customers, vendors and suppliers
Must have strong financial acumen and understand company valuations, including cashflow models, comparative analyses, compensation
As a member of the key management group, must promote the Tuff Shed ESOP culture
Partner with the Vice president or Director of Support Services to ensure an efficiently run cross functional environment
Performing all other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Tuff Shed management
Identifies opportunities to introduce automation, artificial intelligence, and business process management into Tuff Shed’s manufacturing environment.
EDUCATION
: Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or requisite experience preferred SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Preferred background in manufacturing in a construction environment including Truss Manufacturing, Framing, Structural Insulated Panels (SIP), or other building components. Demonstrated ability to organize and collaborate across multiple functional teams. Demonstrated ability to understand, analyze and interpret financial data; strong financial aptitude and focus on bottom-line results. Experience with introducing automation, robotics, or artificial intelligence into a manufacturing environment. Background in Lean Manufacturing or similar organizational efficiency platforms. Collaboration with key corporate departments including sales, operations, finance, IT, accounting, HR, etc. Hands-on computer skills in Microsoft Office and Internet applications required; experience in utilizing Customer Relations. Management (CRM) software – including Oracle, JDE, Onyx, Salesforce.com, Goldmine or similar systems is highly preferred – including CPQ and FSL. Ability to solve problems using sound logic and good business judgment and high attention to detail, well-organized and good independent judgement. Ability to work both independently and as part of the Executive team. Strong management and leadership skills with a high degree of accountability, professionalism, ethics, and a commitment to a team approach. Team player with superior organizational, managerial, communications, and interpersonal skills that instill confidence and cooperation in construction, manufacturing, and production personnel at all levels. Demonstrate good working knowledge and experience in developing and implementing strategic plans, management policies, strategies, and systems. Excellent consultative skills with the ability to interact with and influence people across the company and enterprise (suppliers, vendors, customers) privately and publicly. Highly analytic and strategic with the ability to appreciate the big picture and context, and effectively implement the same in practical terms. Proven track record in improving manufacturing, construction, production processes. Strong sense of urgency, intelligent, analytical, innovative, and creative, with an ability to find both traditional and nontraditional solutions to problems. Strategic thinker with strong forward-planning skills. Experience building and managing a strong safety-focused organization. Ability to adapt and respond quicky to change. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, including customers, business partners, suppliers, co-workers, managers, and the general public.
