Job Summary
The shift for this position is 6:45am-5:15pm with 10hr days, 4 days per week, Monday-Friday/rotating days. This role is in the Operating Room (OR) at Mount Zion and is full-time. In addition to performing the duties of the Sr. Surgical Technologist, the Principal also functions as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to new staff in the scrub role. The incumbent assists with equipment repairs and maintenance, and serves as the key liaison with the Biomedical Technicians. They assist the Perioperative Manager and Director with service?related activities such as checking carts, ordering supplies, and identifying opportunities to streamline operations. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is determined by work experience and internal equity. The current salary range for this position is $53.26 $66.37 per hour. Department Description
The Operating Room (OR) at Mount Zion (MZ) is an inpatient care facility comprising 10 suites performing procedures in breast/plastics, endocrine, otology/head & neck/sinus (OHNS), benign gynecology, ophthalmology, minimally invasive spine, pain services, radiation oncology, and orthopedic surgery. The OR serves patients 18+ and all surgeries are performed on an outpatient, inpatient, or overnight stay basis. Two new suites have been recently installed with state?of?the?art integrated computer and video systems. The department focuses on cancer treatment and is a primary site for ophthalmology and orthopedic surgery. Recent technology adopted includes the newest generation of ophthalmology lasers, microscopes, and ultrasounds; Setimag for sentinel lymph node detection; Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS) and sleep apnea procedures; and latest orthopedic surgical techniques. The OR staff is diverse in clinical experience, generational representation, and cultural makeup, with many nurses possessing more than 30 years of experience. Required Qualifications Three years experience as a Surgical Technologist Graduate of Surgical Technologist training program or equivalent experience High School Diploma or equivalent Demonstrated expertise in one or multiple complex surgical specialties Demonstrated skills in precepting, time management, and organization of supplies and equipment Demonstrated interpersonal skills in customer service, problem?solving, and initiative Ability to work flexibly at all UCSF Medical Center locations
