Director of Student Support Resources – City University of New York Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director of Student Support Resources provides strategic leadership for an integrated, student‑centered portfolio that advances the holistic well‑being and success of a diverse student body. The Director leads and coordinates programs in wellness, counseling, gender resources, and interfaith and spiritual life.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Office of Student Support Resources, aligned with institutional goals for retention, equity, and student success.

Provide leadership for the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of programs in wellness, counseling, gender resources, interfaith support, and the Cares Team.

Lead campus‑wide initiatives to support student mental health, including suicide prevention, trauma‑informed practices, stepped‑care models, and recovery support.

Expand and assess wellness programming with an emphasis on culturally responsive care, identity‑affirming services, digital well‑being, and stigma reduction.

Promote peer‑led interventions, group‑based support, and early identification of students in distress.

Coordinate cross‑campus partnerships with Academic Affairs, Public Safety, Housing, the Wellness Center, and external agencies to address basic needs, crisis response, and wraparound supports.

Provide oversight and coordination of student health services in collaboration with clinical staff to ensure compliance, accessibility, and a focus on prevention education and campus health.

Oversee and strengthen gender‑based support services, including education, prevention, and response initiatives addressing gender‑based violence, sexual misconduct, and interpersonal harm.

Provide oversight for the Nondenominational Chaplain, the Interfaith and Meditation Space, and the Interfaith Council, ensuring inclusive, respectful, and welcoming support for students of all religious and spiritual backgrounds.

Collaborate with Communications to launch health promotion campaigns and strengthen the digital presence of support services.

Develop performance metrics and manage assessment processes to monitor program impact and service delivery.

Provide guidance and consultation to faculty, staff, and administration on student wellness and compliance with legal, accreditation, and policy standards.

Supervise a multidisciplinary team of professionals and student workers across the unit.

Support grant development, external funding, and resource optimization efforts.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and eight years of related experience (required).

Doctoral degree in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or a related discipline (preferred).

Demonstrated success in leading student support programs and supervising clinical or professional staff in a college/university setting.

Expertise in trauma‑informed care, culturally competent services, and evidence‑based wellness practices.

Strong leadership, planning, and assessment skills.

Familiarity with compliance areas such as FERPA, Title IX, ADA, and HIPAA.

Ability to manage change, build collaborative partnerships, and support diverse student populations with an equity and inclusion lens.

Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: $136,546 – $155,388. Benefits include health plans, competitive retirement/pension, tuition waivers for graduate study, generous paid time off, and access to academic, arts, and athletic programs.
