Boston University Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences is one of the country’s leading schools of health and rehabilitation sciences. The AD‑FA will serve as a key member of the college’s Finance & Administration team, providing support services and financial analysis for academic departments, research centers, outpatient clinics, and entrepreneurial units. The AD‑FA manages the college’s accounting for a large portfolio of designated, gift, and spendable endowment accounts and works with deans, department chairs, program directors and principal investigators (PIs) to ensure funds are used in accordance with each account’s terms.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring proper procedures and compliance with all university financial policies and regulations across college units.
Collaborating with the Director of Finance & Administration to analyze data and develop accurate financial projections for complex reporting.
Serving as the primary contact for faculty and staff for daily business operations – procurement, accounts payable, travel, and cashier services.
Communicating regularly with research faculty and PIs to ensure timely administration of all Ph.D. stipends.
Contributing to the college’s human resource operations, in collaboration with the Director of Finance & Administration and the Associate Director for Human Resources.
Maintaining a welcoming campus culture for all and supporting inclusivity initiatives.
Required skills and qualifications:
BA/BS required.
5–8 years of experience.
Strong financial and accounting background, with experience managing restricted and sponsored research funds.
Excellent attention to detail and a service‑oriented approach.
Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated knowledge of standard accounting principles and data analysis skills.
Diplomacy and dependability in collaborating across the university.
Judgment for compliance with university F&A procedures and policies.
Knowledge of federal guidance on immigration visas for academic and employment purposes.
Ability to meet multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks; advanced Excel skills required.
Experience with SAP and BU business systems is preferred.
