Job Summary
The Plumber Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the fabrication plumbing team to ensure the timely and quality‑driven fabrication of plumbing material. This role emphasizes labor productivity, quality control, safety compliance, and effective crew leadership. The foreman coordinates closely with shop supervisors and field superintendents and supervises a team of 2–6 plumbers, performing hands‑on tasks as needed. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in interpreting job‑specific drawings, managing pre‑fab operations, and ensuring adherence to company procedures and project specifications. A minimum of 5 years of commercial plumbing experience is required. Competency with digital tools such as iPads and construction software is required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Lead work crews in the plumbing trade. Manages 2‑6 employees. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.
Follow all rules and procedures required by SPC; ensures plumbing staff follow procedures and policies.
Communicate with SPC job teams on various projects to ensure they achieve quality work in a timely manner. Communicates with SPC staff and provides feedback regarding the status of the project.
Instruct plumbing staff in the techniques and procedures employed in the plumbing trade.
Pre‑plans, assigns, and reviews the work of staff engaged in the installation, modification, and/or repair of plumbing systems.
Act as a working foreman to fit, cut, and install various piping systems (DWV, DHW, DCW, DHWR, and DI, Storm).
Inspect work upon completion to determine that staff followed the necessary procedures and that work conforms to job documents and SPC job‑specific drawings.
Monitor work of crew members for adherence to plans, specifications, and SPC job‑specific drawings.
Competent with the use of an iPad.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years’ industrial/commercial plumbing experience. Ability to read and interpret documents.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to solve practical problems.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schematic form.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
