Construction Inspector – Welding/Structural Bolting
Location: Birmingham, AL
Pay Range: $100,000.00/yr – $120,000.00/yr (base pay; additional compensation may be discussed in interview)

Responsibilities
Observe, inspect and report on construction projects at federal facilities for compliance.
Perform construction welding inspections of steel fabrication.
Conduct coating inspections and testing of various coating systems.
Inspect and test structural bolting methods and installations.
Recommend changes to government personnel regarding contract plans and specifications.
Monitor contractor’s quality system and administer the three‑phase inspection process.
Provide surveillance at construction sites and assist owners in problem resolution.
Deliver and review change orders, modifications, RFIs and submittals.
Monitor contractor’s schedule.
Ensure QA and safety plans are adhered to by contractors.
Utilize Resident Management System (RMS).
Requirements
U.S. citizen; must pass federal background review and drug screen.
High school graduate with 5 years construction welding inspection experience and 2 years coating and structural bolting inspection experience.
AWS Certified Welding Inspector (AWS QC1) with minimum 5 years steel fabrication experience.
Qualified for NDT personnel in ASNT.
Coating inspection qualification: NACE Level I+ or SSPC Protective Coatings Inspector Level 1+ with at least 2 years experience.
Structural bolting inspection certification per AASHTO G4.2 with at least 2 years experience.
Experience with Three‑Phase QC/Inspection process.
Preferred experience with EM 385‑1‑1 USACE Safety Manual and Resident Management System (RMS).
