What To Expect
A Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of mechanical systems that support Tesla’s industrial, commercial, and R&D facilities. This role focuses on ensuring reliability and performance across HVAC systems, hydronic systems, air handling units, compressed air systems, and other critical infrastructure. The technician will also support preventative maintenance efforts, supervise contractors, troubleshoot systems using BMS platforms, and contribute to general facility upkeep. Candidates must be hands‑on, able to perform tasks across multiple trades when needed, and willing to work across our main locations across the Peninsula and East Bay.
Shift: 7:00AM - 3:30PM; Monday - Friday
What You’ll Do
Operate, maintain, diagnose, and repair mechanical systems including HVAC, boilers, chillers, hydronic loops, VAVs, compressors, dryers, and exhaust systems
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on mechanical, control, and infrastructure systems
Install, repair, and modify ductwork, piping, exhaust equipment, and HVAC components; perform brazing, soldering, and welding
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Building Management Systems (BMS) such as Automated Logic, Siemens, or Ignition
Conduct inspections to ensure mechanical and electrical systems meet performance, safety, and compliance standards
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors during maintenance, repair, and installation projects
Support general facility maintenance, cross‑train on unfamiliar systems, and adapt to evolving operational needs
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of experience in mechanical or facility maintenance within industrial, commercial, or R&D environments and ability to perform brazing, soldering, and welding
Associate Degree or Trade School completion preferred
Strong technical skills in HVAC systems, mechanical repairs, and installations, with knowledge of related codes and safety regulations
Experience with BMS platforms such as Automated Logic, Siemens, or Ignition
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with strong problem‑solving and organizational skills
Effective communicator, self‑motivated, and customer‑focused; able to work independently or in teams
Valid Driver’s License

Expected Compensation $32.00 – $54.76/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay may vary depending on market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
