Role Description
Lab Technician – Assistant I – Lab Support
UST is seeking a Lab Support to assist with daily activities in a semiconductor engineering lab in Hillsboro, Oregon. The role focuses on supporting engineers with basic hardware assembly, lab setup, equipment handling, and system maintenance. This is a hands‑on onsite position—remote or hybrid work is not available.
Opportunity
Assist in assembling and disassembling systems and components such as motherboards, CPUs, memory, and storage devices.
Support physical setup of test benches, racks, and cabling under engineer supervision.
Help perform BIOS and firmware updates using provided tools and scripts.
Maintain lab cleanliness, ESD safety, and organization of tools and equipment.
Label, log, and track hardware assets and assist in receiving or returning lab materials.
Support engineers with basic system bring‑up, smoke tests, and setup verification.
Document test setups, equipment checklists, and basic issue logs.
Follow lab safety, security, and operational guidelines at all times.
What You Need
Required Skills:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree (or pursuing) in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related field.
6 months to 2 years of experience in a lab, hardware, or electronics environment (internship or project experience acceptable).
Basic understanding of PC components, peripherals, and assembly steps.
Familiarity with Windows or Linux OS installation and BIOS navigation.
Strong willingness to learn lab processes, tools, and procedures.
Good communication skills and ability to follow technical instructions carefully.
Comfortable handling ESD‑sensitive components and lifting up to 30 lbs.
Desirable:
Exposure to semiconductor or computer hardware validation environments.
Basic understanding of firmware flashing or system imaging tools.
Familiarity with inventory tracking or lab asset management tools.
Interest in automation or scripting (Python/PowerShell) is a plus.
Compensation Range:
$34,000 – $51,000 (Oregon)
