XNRGY Climate Systems
XNRGY Climate Systems is a leader in sustainable HVAC solutions, specializing in the design and manufacture of energy‑efficient air treatment systems for various applications including data centers, healthcare facilities, and industrial buildings. With a strong commitment to sustainability and innovation, XNRGY provides innovative solutions that reduce energy consumption and support LEED certification.
A
Test Engineer
is the last line of defense between design intent and the customer. In a startup HVAC manufacturer like XNRGY—building custom AHUs/chillers for mission‑critical sites (data centers, hospitals, labs)—they turn prototypes into repeatable products, protect performance guarantees, and keep ramp schedules on track. They design the factory/end‑of‑line tests, instrument our units properly, catch defects before shipping, generate the traceable data customers and certifiers require, and feed issues back to Design, Controls, and Production fast enough to prevent repeats. Net result: higher first‑pass yield, fewer field failures, faster cash conversion, and proof we meet spec.
An overview of your responsibilities!
Direct activities to evaluate new products, modify existing products, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
Coordinates the test stand performance, schedule, procedures, and results.
Oversees and implements computer software and hardware to conduct tests on products and systems.
Works with Quality and Engineering department to store and evaluate testing files and records. Suggests innovative ideas to improve data acquisition.
Resolve problems by using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
Collaborate with management, production, and applications/sales to determine engineering feasibility, customer test requirements and unit performance.
Confer with engineering and technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data and data interpretation.
Establish safety procedures, work processes, PPE requirements of testing operators, test stand equipment and testing facility in accordance with OSHA standards.
Assists with the maintenance of the Test stand and equipment. Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment and coordinates repairs as needed. Establishes schedule for regular preventive maintenance.
What you'll need, among other things!
5+ years test engineering in Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering for industrial HVAC/R, rotating equipment, refrigeration, or complex electro‑mechanical systems (AHUs/chillers strongly preferred).
B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related).
ISO 9001: firsthand experience operating within a QMS (writing/maintaining procedures, calibration control, NCR/CAPA, internal audits).
End‑of‑Line (EOL) / Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT): designed and ran production tests; set acceptance limits; released test work instructions/SOPs.
Instrumentation & DAQ: pressure/temperature/flow/power measurement, NIST‑traceable calibration, uncertainty/GR&R, data logging and test fixtures.
HVAC/R fundamentals: psychometrics, fan laws, heat exchangers, compressors, VFDs; ability to read P&IDs, wiring diagrams, control sequences.
Controls literacy: PLC/BAS integration and point checkout (BACnet/Modbus), alarm/fault simulation, trend logs.
Data & problem solving: SPC, MSA (GR&R), root cause (5‑Why/8D), corrective actions; strong Excel/Minitab (or equivalent).
Safety: Lockout/Tagout; electrical and mechanical safety in a factory test environment.
Communication & hustle: clear test reports; can lead customer witness tests; comfortable on the floor with Production, Quality, Design, and Controls.
