Summary The Tender Specialist is a strategic role focused on managing and optimizing the tender process. Responsibilities include developing pricing strategies, responding to requests for proposals (RFPs), and ensuring competitive positioning in the market. The role requires extensive use of Microsoft Excel, collaboration with global stakeholders, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the end‑to‑end process of responding to tenders and RFPs.
Analyze customer requirements and collaborate with internal teams to develop comprehensive responses.
Develop and maintain internal templates.
Compile and pre‑populate pricing inputs using Excel VLOOKUP techniques.
Develop complex Excel formulas and use Excel to analyze and present detailed reports and shipment simulations.
Conduct competitive analysis to ensure pricing structures remain competitive.
Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor pricing.
Provide insights and recommendations based on market research.
Collaborate with sales, operations, and other departments to create compelling proposals.
Ensure accuracy and completeness in all tender submissions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and engage with clients to understand their needs.
Prepare and present regular reports on tender performance, win/loss analysis, and pricing effectiveness.
Learn transportation knowledge across all modes to enhance decision‑making for future assignments.
Communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
Educational Background / Work Experience
2–4 years of relevant professional experience.
Strong data analysis and modeling skills.
Comfortable working with large data sets.
Expertise with Microsoft Excel.
Degree or coursework in Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or Business‑related field.
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of the logistics and transportation industry.
Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and VBA (plus or no).
Knowledge of macros is a plus.
Familiarity with SQL and VBA is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
Fluent in English (oral and written).
Secondary foreign language is a plus.
Basic math skills.
Strong affinity for technology and numbers.
Ability to strategize, analyze, and optimize around data.
Excellent time‑management skills and strong attention to detail.
Willingness to learn and grow.
