Full performance level in the electrical inspection occupation requiring considerable knowledge of electrical installation methods and associated regulatory requirements; under direction, conducts inspections of electrical installation for compliance with applicable building codes. Using approved plans, reviews RISER diagrams of buildings to determine if design engineer or electrical contractor has provided accurate and adequate information to complete approved wiring installations. At inspection sites, performs rough, pre-heat and final electrical safety inspections on buildings and other types of structural wiring to determine adequacy and safety of installations. Documents all discrepancies found during inspection and maintains a log of time spent at each inspection site. Advises builders, contractors and homeowners on the causes of non-conformance in electrical installations; certifies completed jobs that meet code requirements for the public utility; and documents actions taken on related permits. Responds to inquiries from builders, contractors, and the general public regarding electrical requirements; investigates complaints involving violations of electrical safety standards; and participates in trade group meetings to discuss code updates and related issues. (Performs Related Duties as Required) Equivalent to High School diploma. Currently possess an Electrical Safety Inspector (ESI) certification issued by the State of Ohio Board of Building Standards or have the ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire date. Driving Requirement:

Must maintain a current, valid United States driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Training and Development:

Must maintain licensure and certification.
