Under the direct supervision of the Program Director, the Program Manager is responsible for coordinating, assigning, and supervising full‑time & part‑time direct care staff working in a day program and community‑based program. The Program Manager must demonstrate the ability to establish and implement quality programming, communicate effectively, evaluate existing program structure, and work with others to develop and implement tools, techniques and other resources to improve participant service and program effectiveness. The Program Manager may also have areas of specialization such as Employment, Person Centered Training, NCI Trainer, Teacher of Record, etc. As an employee, the Program Manager is responsible for implementing all aspects of the agency’s positive behavioral program, complying with policy and procedures, and demonstrating appropriate conduct. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate and adjust participant programming to ensure care, safety, treatment, and training for participants. Supervise assigned staff by directing and assigning duties which assure appropriate personnel coverage and are consistent with federal and state regulations and agency policy. Promote participant independence and empowerment by listening to participants, asking clarifying questions, and working with program staff to develop supports. Serve and actively participate as a team member in the development of training curriculum to meet program goals and support extensive community integration. Provide training and instruction to staff who work with identified senior participants to facilitate employment, volunteerism, or entrepreneurship, and address needs of senior participants. Provide leadership that promotes high‑quality services to all participants. Assess participant abilities and develop Individual Service Plans (ISPs) that coincide with Individual Program Plans (IPPs). Coordinate and monitor program schedules to ensure participation in activities identified in ISPs. Gather and update participant data accurately and present information clearly. Initiate timely discussions with staff and external professionals about participant health and safety, services, and program improvements. Thoroughly and accurately complete program paperwork. Apply effective feedback tools to resolve problems and improve employee performance. Identify and reinforce positive employee performance, attitudes, and behaviors. Provide physical care and assistance including feeding, toileting, and personal care when necessary. Execute on‑call rotation. Ensure program environment is safe, clean, and organized. Provide exceptional customer service. Perform related duties as assigned. PERIODIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Initiate meetings with staff to review participant progress, crises, and medical issues, and adjust programming collaboratively. Conduct meetings with interdisciplinary team members to review progress and develop objectives aligned with IPP. Provide direct service to participants on an intermittent basis. Demonstrate crisis intervention techniques that honor participant dignity. Participate in required in‑service training to maintain certification and improve job‑related skills. Develop training budgets and monitor purchases. Document employee issues. Conduct employee performance appraisals as required. Communicate information to other supervisors accurately and timely. DESIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Clear and timely communication with others. Follow written and verbal directions. Present information effectively and accurately. Active listening and asking clarifying questions. WRITING SKILLS
Written work is thorough and accurate. Written materials are timely, clear, and action‑oriented. MATHATICAL SKILLS
Perform basic calculations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages. Apply basic math concepts. DECISION MAKING ABILITIES
Solve practical problems using available resources. Work independently with minimal supervision. Follow a variety of instructions verbally, in writing, or as diagrams/schedules. Maintain good judgment during challenging situations. Build and maintain effective working relationships with participants, staff, community service reps, and the public. TRAINING
CPR and First Aid Certification. Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention Training. Social Effectiveness Training. Positive Behavior Support Training. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to sit, use hands, touch, and listen. Occasional standing, walking, and reaching. May lift or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to adjust vision focus; may operate motor vehicle and travel to satellite locations. Employee may be required to operate a vehicle; vehicle insurance and license requirements apply. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
Valid California driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and driving record meeting company standards. Willingness to travel regionally up to 20% of the time. Physically and mentally fit to work with participants potentially dangerous to self or others; must complete health screening including drug screen and TB test, and possess NVCIT. Meet state personnel licensing standards. Successfully complete CPR and First Aid Certification. Willingness to work within a culturally integrated workplace and respect diversity across protected classes.
