Overview Biddeford Schools are seeking an
Indoor Track Assistant Coach
for the 25-26 season. The coach will instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary to realize individual and team success, and promote character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student-athletes. The role includes upgrading knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, and consultation.
Responsibilities
Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to realize individual and team success.
Instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student-athletes.
Organize and supervise a total sports program; apply coaching knowledge and examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
Be a positive role model for student-athletes through instructions and actions.
Maintain thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the Biddeford School Department and implement them with the sports program staff.
Know the existing system, state, and league regulations; implement and interpret them for staff.
Understand the proper administrative line of command and refer to appropriate channels for requests or grievances. Attend required public/staff/department meetings.
Consult the Coaches Handbook for program guidance.
Reports To The athletic director provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.
Supervises
Coordinate and support the staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principal.
Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by staff; design conferences, clinics, and staff meetings to ensure awareness of the overall program.
Train and inform staff; encourage professional growth by attending clinics according to local policy.
Delegate duties, supervise implementation, analyze staff effectiveness at the end of the season, and evaluate all assistants.
Maintain discipline, address grievances, and work to increase morale and cooperation.
Perform other duties as assigned by the athletic director/principal.
Ensure athletes are in authorized areas of the building at appropriate times.
Certification/License MPA Requirements; Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), including fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education.
